I’m making it my life’s mission to ensure that any woman who is focused on her fertility can create a lifestyle that nourishes her soul so deeply, she’ll feel empowered for the rest of her life, no matter what the motherhood journey holds.

In June 2011 I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy, Dylan. I got pregnant in my first cycle of trying. I had an uneventful pregnancy and birth. I recovered well postpartum and went back to my full time job in a legal office 6 months later. Nothing special to report. All pretty straight forward. I counted myself lucky, but I didn’t really think about.

8 weeks before Dylan’s 2nd birthday, I found out I was pregnant again. 2 days before his birthday, I found out I had miscarried.

Over the course of the next 5 years, I went on to have 5 more miscarriages. I was never given a medical diagnosis or explanation. My fertility became my sole obsession.

Early on in my journey through the losses, I turned to Yoga to help me manage the stress. and I fell in love with it. My yoga practise helped me deal with the emotional rollercoaster of grief and despair. I decided that if I made teaching yoga my full time job then I would be immersed in this “stress free” environment and eventually it would sort out my mysterious fertility problems.

At the same time as my yoga teacher training, I took on an advanced diploma in Nutrition and Health coaching so I could fix myself on all levels and then go on to fix others.

What I didn’t realise at the time, or for many years, was that I was approaching my health and wellness career and personal practises in the same way I approached everything else in my life - pushing myself to my limits, taking on way too much, to the point of exhaustion and ultimately burning out.

It was only after my 5th miscarriage, because I was completely broken, was I forced to stop pushing myself. I had nothing left to give and any modicum of strength I had left I had to reserve for Dylan.

When I stopped and let all my balls drop, I made the decision to slow right down and take care of myself for me, not to get pregnant, just to get my life back. This was when I stumbled upon feminine form Ayurveda and it changed everything.

Feminine form Ayurveda with the Shakti School taught me about feminine and masculine tendencies in a way I hadn’t considered before.

This female model of health finally showed me why slowing down and prioritising my own wellbeing wasn’t a form a weakness or selfish, it was a necessary step in resetting my Self - physically, emotionally and even spiritually.

Once I became aware of how we are all saturated in masculine tendencies I was able to see where I needed to balance all of this “doing” energy with more “being” energy.

I learned how to tune into my cycle and map where my energy and mood naturally dips. Most importantly I learned not to judge myself for not being as productive, extroverted and energetic as I am for the rest of the month.

This awareness is game changing for a woman, particularly in the early years of the motherhood journey. This awareness, coupled with an understanding of the nutrients your body needs to sustain healthy reproduction, a general knowledge of how to keep your hormones balanced and a yoga and meditation practise that will keep your cup over flowing all month long…this is the golden ticket.

This world is not designed to support your female experience of fluctuating hormones and energetic cycles. This is evident from how we feel around our period every month. But it can be felt acutely during the motherhood years. The journey into motherhood is anything but linear. It can be unpredictable, challenging and physically and emotionally draining. Learning how to step into your inherent feminine power during this time will ensure your wellbeing is the priority so you can in turn take care of the important work of making babies and then nurturing them as well as youself.

That’s my personal experience of fertility, why it’s so important to me and why I have made it the sole focus of my career…let me tell you about education and professional qualifications

With over 10 years experience working in yoga and nutrition with women through classes, workshops and private consultation, it has been the last 3 years I have focused on supporting women who are focused on their fertility. Through The Fertility Studio, my online, on demand video library full of fertility yoga classes, recipes for fertility boosting, hormone balancing meals and guided fertility meditations I have been helping women improve their fertility and empower them to cultivate a more feminine form lifestyle.
